One of the most commonly asked questions about blinds repairs is where to find replacement vertical blinds vanes. Usually what happens is the slat or vane breaks just above the hole at the top where it clips into the track. You can either replace the broken slat or you may find that your best option is vane repair using vane saver repair clips.
This photo shows a good example of the kind of damage I'm talking about.
You may want to check out YourBlinds.com for replacement vertical blinds vanes. You will have to purchase a minimum quantity of 10 slats, but you should be able to use all of them sooner or later. Just be sure to store them flat - under a bed is good. Don't try to stand them up in the corner, they'll warp.
Color and Pattern Matching
If your vertical has colored or textured vanes, you can request up to 10 free samples from YourBlinds.com to help you find a good match.
Measure the Slat, Not the Blind
When you measure for your replacement slats, you should measure the length of the old vane or slat only - not the overall length of the blind.
What if You Can't Find Replacement Vanes?
If you don't want to replace the whole blind but you can't find matching replacements for broken vanes, there are repair clips that can be used to salvage old slats. The clips are sturdy (they're metal) and work very well. Watch this video for more information.

I've Had It With Vertical Blinds!
The vertical blind is one of those products that is not universally loved. If you have decided that you belong to the camp of vertical blind detractors, you might be interested in one of these vertical blind alternatives. There is a lot to be said about them, too, but that's a story for another day.
Happy Repairing!
